How to post a new note:

  1. Click the "Post a note" yellow button on the left side of the page.
  2. Select a channel to post it to. What are channels?
  3. Type your message in the box.
  4. Click "Submit".
  5. From here, you can edit your note or move it.

What are "Channels"?

A channel is a like a folder or label in your email. By default, when you post a note, it goes to the global channel. The channel helps categorize your note, so others know what it's about.

For instance, if you lost your dog, you would post a note under the lost-and-found channel. If you are marking all the best Mexican restaurants, you might post those notes under the top-taco-places channel. You can make up any channel name you want.

You can choose to star a channel, and if you do, you will see more notes from that channel on the map. In the Notes selector on the right, you can choose to limit your current view to starred channels, if you prefer.

How to reply to a note:

  1. Move your mouse over the note.
  2. When the details appear, click the comment link, which might say, "Comment on this note", or "View 8 older comments"
  3. The expanded view will load. This view also functions as a real-time chat, if you prefer to treat it that way.
  4. You can enter your comment in the blue-highlighted input field toward the bottom.
  5. Either press your "enter" key or click the "Add comment" link when done.

How to edit or delete your note:

  1. Move your mouse over the note.
  2. When the details appear, click the comment link, which might say, "Comment on this note", or "View 8 older comments"
  3. The expanded view will load.
  4. Just after the date you should see two small links, (edit), and (delete).
  5. The edit mode shows a text box you can change and a channel selector, if you think your note belongs in a different channel.
  6. You must click the "save" button to retain any changes you make.

How to move your note:

  1. Move your mouse over the note.
  2. When the note details appear, click the four-arrow icon under the close icon.
  3. All other notes are hidden, and your note now moves around with your mouse.
  4. Move your mouse to where you want the note to be anchored and click to pin it down.

What is HereNote.com?

HereNote.com is a real-time bulletin board of the world on a map. It lets you post reviews, ask questions, announce events, or discuss what's happening in your neighborhood, or anywhere in the world.
